Local sisters’ cosmetics and amenities company grows from start up to SADC exporters in under 5 years.
Eastern Cape sisters, Sandra Hansen and Charis Gratz, are founders of Silver Emerald – a cosmetics and amenities company that has had recent success in the manufacturing and distribution of their world-class product within the SADC region.
Sandra and Charis founded their company in 2018, with the vision of creating quality products at a competitive price; first to be distributed locally, and then internationally. After conducting a market analysis of retail trends, pricing and points of distribution, they implemented an effective go-to market strategy which has grown their business presence in the Eastern Cape and beyond.
Now, they’ve tapped into a broader market – on top of the export of beauty products and hotel amenities, they’ve begun manufacturing services and white labeled products for other local producers.
They have found great value in networking with other local businesses. They now have relationships and insight into what other local players are producing and have identified points of collaboration, pools of skills and opportunities to share resources to reach broader markets outside of South Africa.
As a South African SMME which has recently started successfully exporting to neighboring African countries, they believe they’ve only just started their exporting journey as a growing business and have great ambition in growing internationally. It is evident that the sisters and their team strive for continuous improvement in all that they do.
