SARS GUIDE TO: Completing a SAD500 Customs declaration
Every import and export that gets cleared via SARS Customs must be accompanied with a SAD500 Customs declaration.
Importers and exporters may complete the form themselves, or request that their freight agent do so on their behalf. Since there are legal implications for mispresenting the truth on an SAD500 (whether intentionally or by accident) it is advisable that traders do at least understand the information these forms contain.
